Program Overview

To many, the most challenging imperative for government and public sector leaders at all levels is recognizing and maximizing opportunities to meet citizen expectations in a way that builds trust and confidence in government. Citizen expectations for high-performance government are on the rise at a time when budgets and timelines shrink, leaving government leaders struggling to deliver results. To overcome these pressures, government leaders and executives in public sector organizations must embrace innovation and its associated management tools and practices. This Program builds innovative knowledge and competencies to deliver results that create and maintain citizens’ trust and confidence in the government and its organizations.

Program Objectives

The Program allows participants to:

  • Explore how to navigate the unique opportunities and barriers to government and public sector innovation.
  • Use best practices to promote a culture of innovation in government and its agencies.
  • Develop an innovation leadership canvas to lead their organizations, departments, or agencies.
  • Develop skills to identify and develop strategies to manage the core challenges to promoting innovation in government and public sector
  • Build leadership skills in public sector innovation to lead teams in designing and implementing solutions to contemporary public service challenges.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum 3rd class) in any discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Or
  • Professional Qualifications (e.g., ICAG, ACCA, CIM, CIMA, etc.), with at least two years of relevant work experience.
International Applicants
  • International applicants must have an equivalent Bachelor's degree (minimum 3rd class) in any discipline with two years of relevant work experience. GTEC would determine degree equivalence.
  • International applicants from non-English-speaking Countries must show evidence of English Language Proficiency.
Or
  • Substantial business and entrepreneurial experience – NiBS will consider the application of candidates who have at least 15 years of relevant work experience. Such participants must not be more than 10% of any cohort.
  • International applicants may be admitted based on qualifications from their home country universities with equivalence determined by GTEC and submitted to NiBS.
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency is required from students from non-English-speaking countries.
